| | How do I access my FTP account to upload files? To access your FTP account you will need an FTP client such as CoreFTP LE or SmartFTP. Once you have your FTP client, you can connect to your website using the IP address that was sent to you when you first signed up or twitchhosting.com. If you need a copy of this email, click here.
The username and password are also the same as when you signed up for your TwitchHosting account and will also be listed on the initial email that was sent to you. If you have forgotten your password, you may want to have it reset.
While specific steps will vary by FTP client, you will need to enter the following login information when setting up a connection to your site:
Host Name/Address: twitchhosting.com (or your domain name)
Host Type: Automatic detect
User ID: FTP username (The account username you used to sign up)
Password: FTP password (The password you used to sign up)
Once you have connected, you should see two folders on the remote system: www and cgi-bin
Anything put under 'www' will be accessible at the root of your domain. As an example, if you created a page called 'mypage.html' and uploaded it to the 'www' folder, it would be accessible by going to 'http://mydomain.com/mypage.html'. The 'cgi-bin' folder is for use with scripts and executable files such as applications that you can run on your website. This is provided so that you can run custom applications, such as some shopping cart progams, without having to contact support to configure it.
