| | How do I configure my E-mail accounts? To access your email administration page, point
your browser to:
http://mail.twitchhosting.com/cgi-bin/qmailadmin.
Log in with your domain administrator account and
your domain name and password.
Defaults:
User Account: postmaster
Domain Name: mydomain.com
Password: mydomain.c
(First 10 characters of your domain name, including the TLD, eg .com, .net, .org. If your
domain is shorter than 10 characters, use the entire domain name)
After you have logged in, you will see the options
to view email accounts, forwards, etc as well as
options to create new email, forwards, and other
account types.
To create a new email account, select 'New Email
Account' from the list.
After you have selected 'New Email
Account', you will be taken to the new
email account creation page. Fill out the
email account name, password, and real
name fields for the user. Click 'Add' when
you are finished to add the new email
address.
After you add the new account, you will
be taken to the email account list page.
This page shows all existing email
accounts on the domain. From here you
can modify a user, delete the account, or
set an account as a catchall.
A catchall account is where email is sent
if a matching account is not found. In this
example, the catchall is 'bounced' which
would send an email back to the client
that sent the bad email with a notice that
the user 'X' does not have an account on
this domain.
Twitch recommends you set this value to
either deleted or select one of your email
accounts (not postmaster, unless you
check the account regularly) as the
catchall account.
Click on the 'Main Menu' link in the lower
right hand to go back to the main menu,
or alternatively you can also create
another account with 'Create Email
Account' or log out with the 'Log Out' link.
From the main menu you also have the option to
create email forwards by clicking on the 'New
Forward' link from the menu list.
The other options on this main page including mail
robots and mailing lists are not covered in this
document.
Should you need assistance with these
features, please contact
support@twitchhosting.com.
When creating a forward, you can select
a local account or a remote account to
send the email to. This allows you to
forward all email from a generic email
address such as info@mydomain.com to
your actual email account
bsmith@mydomain.com so that you don't
have to check both accounts.
This feature also allows you to create
'temporary' email accounts to use for
websites that require your email address.
Simply create a forward for
myspamfilter@mydomain.com (or some
other creative account name) and forward it to your real email address. If this email starts getting a lot of
unwanted email, you can simply remove the alias and you won't see any emails to that account.
For local accounts, you can simply provide the account name to forward to, eg bsmith. However, for remote
forwarding, you will need to specify the full email address such as bill.smith@gmail.com.
Additionally, your users can use the email administration
website to further configure their own individual account
options.
Users can change their own
options including their real names,
passwords, and forwarding
information. It even has an option
to set up an out-of-office auto reply
(aka Vacation Auto-response).
